I want to delve into a topic that's close to my heart—evidence. Yes, evidence, the cornerstone of personal integrity in our increasingly complex world.

If you've followed me on social media, particularly Facebook, you might have noticed my frequent use of the hashtag #evidence. This habit began last year, not just as a personal choice but as a response to a broader cultural trend. We live in a time where charisma and magnetism can overshadow substance, where people invest their time, money, and energy in individuals with little to no proof of their claims.

Think about it. We demand proof for miracles but readily accept unverified promises and assertions from others. How many of us have been drawn to someone's words, their energy, only to find that they lack the real-world experience to back it up?

I believe that true wisdom and authority come from lived experiences—real-life, real-world practice. As a collective, we often complain about being misled by con artists and scammers in various spheres of life, yet we continue to reward empty charisma with our most valuable resources—our attention and trust.

There's a crucial shift needed. We must redirect our energy towards those who have put in the work, those with tangible evidence of their journey—evidence not only of success but also of failure, growth, and transparency.

I recently came across an insightful podcast discussion about this very issue. The speaker shared how he, as a businessperson, can deduct the cost of professional classes from his taxes, classes taught by individuals with verifiable portfolios and real-world experience. This is in stark contrast to traditional education models where students invest substantial sums without certainty about the authenticity of their instructors' claims.

The speaker's message resonated with me because it underscores a fundamental truth: authenticity and integrity aren't guaranteed by age or title. We must discern where we invest our time and resources based on evidence, not charisma alone.

Living authentically in a world that often rewards conformity and surface-level charm can be challenging. Many of us have felt the pressure to wear masks, to fit into molds prescribed by societal norms or authority figures. But honoring our true selves requires seeking guidance and learning from those who embody authenticity through their lived experiences.

For those who have always lived authentically, resisting the allure of false facades, the journey can be lonely but ultimately rewarding. Sometimes, the mentors and role models we need aren't found in traditional places. They are the ones with evidence—the ones who have weathered life's storms and emerged with valuable lessons to share.

So, let's embrace the power of evidence. Let's be discerning in whom we trust and follow. Let's seek out those who can show us not just their successes but also their scars—the ones who exemplify integrity through their actions, not just their words.

Together, we can shift the narrative from blind trust in charisma to a culture that values substance and authenticity above all. It starts with each of us, making intentional choices about where we invest our energy and attention. Let's choose evidence over empty promises and, in doing so, pave the way for a more authentic and fulfilling existence.
